Ingredients

  1. 2.5 cups water or milk
  2. 1 cup sour Trahanas
  3. 50g butter
  4. 100g feta cheese
  5. 1 small onion, finely chopped
  6. 2 tbsp olive oil
  7. 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  8. Some chili flakes (boukovo)
  9. Some salt

Instructions

  1. You can use water or milk to cook the Trahanas.
  2. In a small pot, add the water, butter, and bring to a boil.
  3. Add the Trahanas and cook on low heat for 15 minutes until the Trahanas soften.
  4. Then, add crumbled feta and remove from heat.
  5. Sprinkle with chili flakes and salt. If the feta is salty, you may not need to add more salt.
  6. In a separate pan, heat olive oil and sauté the onion for 7-8 minutes on medium heat. Add the vinegar to the Trahanas.
  7. Pour the hot sautéed onion mixture into the Trahanas and stir.
  8. Serve the Trahanas with feta in bowls, and if desired, sprinkle a little chili flakes on top of each plate.
