Ingredients
- 1 cup sweet Trahanas
- 5 cups water
- 1 heaping spoonful tomato paste (or 1 cup chopped tomatoes)
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- Salt
- Pepper
- Crumbled feta cheese or strained yogurt
Instructions
- Place the water in a pot and add all ingredients, except for the cheese.
- Stir and cook over medium heat for 13-15 minutes (depending on how soft you prefer the Trahanas).
- Season with salt and pepper, then serve the Trahanas with crumbled feta or a spoonful of strained yogurt. Sprinkle with fresh ground pepper.
- Do not cook the Trahanas on high heat and make sure there is always enough water
- If there is not enough water and it sits for 5 minutes in the pot, it will absorb it all.
- Serve the tomato-flavored Trahanas in deep plates with crumbled feta, or stir in strained yogurt for a creamier texture.
